As a cricketer of flat tracks in Pakistan he cannot be trusted with the ball swinging in English conditions.

Under that logic no Pakistani batsman should ever get the chance to play in England.

Also, as far as I remember, everyone was complaining about how easy it was to get wickets in Pakistan because of the conditions, the bowl etc and that's why we weren't developing bowlers. Then automatically his runs there should matter a lot no?

We had the template in face of Chanderpaul who looked ugly but prolific in intl cricket. Similarly, Fawad could've come in easily during Butt or Misbah era if Hafeez Azhar opens and Fawad adjust on one down place. But due to dirty politics in country, one can only talk in hindsight.

He scored debut century in opening position, that would invalidate our point#2 and for record Pakistan had unsettled opening place in Misbah era. Not many people know, that PCB power brokers had grudges against his father , who was also FC performer and great player of spin bowling.

Agree with your 3 points but he was not selected for a long time after Misbah's retirement, wasn't that unfair

If they had convinced themselves that he was chasing soft runs and they thought his technique wouldn't stand up, then even after Misbah is gone, that's a tough sell.

He would be in lot of pressure now, best of luck to him, I hope he proves his critics wrong
