One thing I have wanted to do for a long time is a series of notes pieces. A few American sports writers do them regularly. And while they’re not as written as other pieces, They're great for insights and non-linear thoughts. So I’m going to aim to do one a Test, either during or - more likely - after.
So here are my notes on the third Test:
Ishant
I’m doing a big video on Ishant Sharma, so I won’t go too deep into this. But it is incredible that he is the 9th specialist seamer to play in 100 Tests. Few players have ever had a start like him, and certailnly no one on this list did. Anderson, Broad, Walsh, McGrath, Vaas, Pollock, Akram and Ntini. The splits in his career according to my notes here are a 37 average for his first 70 Tests, and 22 for his last 30. That’s incredible. Also, he took Ponting five times in 2008. And has Cook 11 times while averaging 20.9. It's one of the oddest careers in cricket.
